HORSEBACK
RIDING TO THE EL ARCO´S TREE DINOSAURS.
Far away
from civilization, but only a 120 kilometres from Puerto
Montt is 700,000 hectares that embodies a primeval forest,
crystaline rivers, huge mountains and pristine lakes.
Our company Lagos Andinos specialize in personalized
tours for small groups into pure nature. A highlight
is the exploration of the oldest Alerce forest in Southern
Chile and on the planet where trees over 4,000 years
old are standing.
Day
1
8:00 Departure from Puerto Montt to Cochamó. Arrival
on Cochamó at 11:00. Picnic. Time to familiarisewith
horse riding techniques. Packing and ride through the
Cochamó River Valley passing different typs of rainforest
before arriving at the 700 m high valley of " La Junta
". Ride time 5hrs including breaks. We set up camp in
the lush valley of La Junta amidst snow capped peaks.
8 p.m Dinner.
Day 2
9:00 Breakfast. Break camp and re-pack horses. Around
10:00, departure on the Andean trail. Passing a remote
wilderness with crystal clear rivers. After a relaxed
5hrs. Ride we reach the rainforest, El Arco. Here stands
3 to 4 meter living dinosaurs in the form of enormous
35m trees which date back 4.000 years. Picnic and swiming
under the waterfall. By night the gaucho prepares a
chilean barbecue.
Day 3
9:00 Breakfast. Packing equipment and tents. We
ride back 4 hrs to La Junta. Picnic. In the afternoon
you are free to discover the surroundings, such as,
waterfalls, canyons, and rainforest trails into the
hills or take a bath in the river. 8 p.m. Dinner.
Day 4
8:00 Breakfast. Re-pack the horses. Departure for Cochamó
on the lookout for condors. While riding down through
the Valdivian rainforest, one possibly meet gauchos
enroute to Argentina. Approx. 01 p.m. arrival to Cochamó
where our car will take us to civilization along Reloncavi
Fjord, Lake Llanquihue where Volcano Osorno is in Sight.

Excursion as described, 3 overnights in tents (
incl.tents and insumats), all meals, ride horses, guides
(English spoken). What to bring: Water resistant Trekking
Boots, Sweater, Raingear, Sleeping bag. (Also available

Maipo
Valley Winery Tour
This tour visits two or three wineries located close
to Santiago in the Maipo Valley, the oldest viticultural
area in Chile, and includes lunch at a typical restaurant.
Tradicional
winery visits include Cousiño Macul, with its
stunning 19hr century barrel cellar, or the placid Undurraga
winery.
Boutique winery visits may include the stunning new
Quebrada de Macul facility on the eastern edge og Santiago
or the artisan Doña Javiera winery in the lower
Maipo Valley.
Full-day
tour prices start at US$75 per person.
Cachapoal
and Colchahua Vallery Winery Tour.
This tour of the Cachapoal Wallery, an hour south og
Santiago´s Maipo Valley, and the Colchahua Walley
beyond, offers a glimpse of rural Chile as well as visits
to two or three top-notch boutique wineries. Lunch in
Santa Cruz is is included in the tour.
Visits
include wineries such as De Lorose
(Casas del Toqui), whitch focuses on careful vineyard
selection and is owned by the French winery Chateau
La Rose Trintaudon, and MontGras, in
the forefront of experimentation with its Ninquén
hillside vineyards.

2 DAYS TOUR ON CHILOE ISLAND

Departure at 9:00 A.M. from Puerto Montt through the Panamerican higway to Pargua where we´ll navigate the Chacao Channel in order to disembark on the Big Chiloé Island ( second largest island in South America). From here we´ll pass through bucolic natural sceneries to Caulin, nestling place for black necked swans, flamingoes, sand pipers, rails, oyster catchers, egrets, and much more. Lunch on the way to the Pacific coast where we´ll find 3 inlets very close to the beach of a beatiful bay call " Punihuil inlets".
This Place is a truly wild paradise, with fine sands beach, here nestle two pengüin species : The Magellanic and the Humbold pingüins. Together with the pengüins there are sea otters, call Chungungos, which are in the World Red List because they are in danger of extintion, sea gulls cohabiting with Kelp Goose, Upland goose and cormorants while in the water gently swims sea lion colonies.
From here we head towards Castro to visit the San Francisco Cathedral (Declared World Heritage by Unesco), the handicraft market, The "palafitos" ( Typical houses built on stilts). Dinner and overnight in Castro.
Next morning we visit the lake Huillinco to reach Cucao on the Chiloé National Park. Nowhere in South America can a traveller follow Darwin´s footsteps more closely than here. In the park we visit the winding nature trail through gloomy forest and the Sendero Dunas de Cucao another trail, that leads to a series of dunes behind a long, white-sand beach. From here we come back to Castro an continue to Dalcahue to cross the ferry and reach the Quinchao, one of the archipelagic Chiloé´s most interesting and accessible islands. Back to Puerto Montt through the Panamerican highway.
